Leanne Wright

~ It’s more than just a restaurant! ~

Working in the food industry for 20+ years, owner, chef, and creator of

Surf´s Up has drawn inspiration from all over the world, seamlessly synthesizing the familiar and the unknown to form daringly bold flavors and class. The carefully crafted menu accentuates the uniquely exquisite flavors that have come to define Surf's Up Café. This one-of-a-kind and intimate experience will leave you with memories that last a lifetime.

Leanne takes pride in reimagining the way people enjoy and experience food.

ALL 5 of our senses are being used at once as we eat. So why not make it exciting and fill the belly with happiness!

Surf's Up Cafe has now been open for 13 years. With the support from the local and foreign community this laid-back style café, with mouth-watering eateries, has become a place where friends mingle, laugh, hug, smile, joke, play, dance, relax, and leave feeling full & happy.

The menu at Surf’s Up is dynamic to keep those taste buds in suspense. Using fresh, local, and organic ingredients we aim to support the small local business, as we believe in Mazatlán life, and the community that resides here. We love the environment and want to make environmentally conscious decisions as best as we can. Our goal is to make your lips smack and your mouth say mmmm yummy! Our food is made fresh to order, using many homemade recipes and in-house creations. Good wholesome food is not meant to be rushed so we welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning sea views.

Surf’s Up Cafe is more than just a business, it's a place that once only existed in my thoughts held back by fears of ever becoming real. Our lives are full of possibilities and I believe every day we have the opportunities within ourselves to make dreams come true. I always thought I was destined to be a great writer, who would travel the world searching for the next biggest story. Not long after studying Journalism, did I turn the opposite direction when I reached my ‘fork in the road’ and aspired to become an Olympic athlete as an amateur boxer. It is unknown if that dream would have been fulfilled as it was taken from me in an unforeseen car accident. However, the love of the sport and my years of training still linger and keep the passion alive. Cooking has always been my “bread & butter” so to speak, but it became more than that, it makes me feel inspired and happy. Being in the kitchen was my saving grace. I enjoy the creation of flavours blending, spices coming alive, colours so vibrant and rich, and the way your body secretly dances when all your senses begin to react simultaneously. It is said, through all great tragedies something good will be brought forward. This saying could not be more than right for myself. I struggled after the accident, physically, mentally, and emotionally to only discover that when one dream dies another can be born.

This is a true story about when life gives you lemons how to turn them into lemonade.

Surf’s Up Lemonade that is!

I welcome you to be a part of my dream and thank you in advance for your support, kindness, compliments, and of course hugs. As those who were here before know I love a good HUG!
